Abstract In this paper, a photovoltaic (PV) fed boost inverter-based permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM)-driven water-pumping system for stand-alone applications is proposed. The proposed comprises PV panel, six switches, three inductors (L), capacitors (C) and water pump. work, the inverter designed with gain of two thereby direct current input required to run considerably reduced. Hence, size voltage factor depends upon placement L C components their values. speed reference generated using perturb observe maximum power point tracking algorithm. Vector control employed inverter-fed PMSM drive. simulated MATLAB®/Simulink® environment experimental validation performed on laboratory prototype field programmable gate array controller. simulation results demonstrate effectiveness system.
